Shell
The Classic Maple series features a standard 7-ply, 6mm shell meticulously designed to achieve optimal resonance and tonality. Its construction includes a center three-ply core panel, which is bonded between inner and outer two-ply panels using our exclusive RFST (Radio Frequency Shell Technology) molding process. This process ensures increased stability throughout the drum by employing historic bladder molds from the late 1960s. By utilizing a specialized adhesive and our time-tested bonding system, R.F.S.T. cures each shell uniformly across its entire surface. This meticulous process is a key element in capturing the renowned "Ludwig Sound" in every shell they produce.
Bearing Edge
The bearing edge of each drum is meticulously cut at a precise 45-degree angle, with a tolerance of 1/16" from the outer edge. This specific profile is essential in achieving a broad tuning range and optimal sustain. To ensure a flawless playing surface, the edge is skillfully hand-sanded by their craftsmen, guaranteeing a smooth, even, and flat surface for effortless head seating.
