  • Education

A Suzuki violin kid and pianist, I began studying music at a young age encouraged by the many members of my family of jazz, classical and church musicians. In middle and high school, I found many opportunities to perform as a member of the St. Louis Youth Chamber Orchestra and other community ensembles. Upon graduation, I was offered scholarships to study music education at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. My graduate studies in music education include a master’s degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and upcoming doctorate from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

  • Teaching Experience

I began my career teaching elementary and middle school strings in the St. Louis area. I directed the Cameron Youth Chamber Orchestra and maintained a private studio of piano and violin students. During graduate school, I had the opportunity to teach university level strings and studio violin. Recently, I worked with young instrumentalists in an El Sistema-Inspired afterschool program in North Carolina. Upon moving to Atlanta, I am currently teaching in the Paulding County School District.

  • Performance Experience

I consider myself a teaching artist. I have been a gigging musician for nearly twenty years. I have performed solos on violin and piano with community orchestras, for noted celebrities at events and in recital throughout the US and as far away as Spain, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. Most recently, I was a violinist with the Asheville Symphony for two seasons.
