Ashley Williams Flute, Piano, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba, Voice

  • Education

Ashley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, with a focus on Music Education from South Carolina State University. She is currently working towards her Master of Arts degree in Ethnomusicology, with a focus on African, Indian, and Polynesian music.

  • Teaching Experience

Ashley began teaching lessons while in high school, providing private lessons to students in her band as well as members in the community. While in school at South Carolina State University, Ashley continued teaching private music lesson to people of all ages within the Orangeburg and Columbia communities. On breaks from school, she would come home and teach back in Georgia. Upon graduation from South Carolina State University, she was offered a teaching position as a Band and Chorus teacher in a rural middle school in South Carolina and built the program there. Many of her students continued in music and received honors as well after leaving middle school. Currently, Ms. Williams focuses primarily on private music lessons and performing in different venues and events.

  • Performance Experience

Throughout her middle and high school years, she not only performed in the offered ensembles inside the schools, but ensembles outside of the school as well. She also found a new love: learning other instruments as well. Not only did she earn section leader in her middle school band for two years, and her high school band for three consecutive years, she began to pick up other instruments as well. Along the way in high school, she picked up other brass instruments as well: trumpet, baritone, and tuba and learned to perform on them on at least on an intermediate level. While at South Carolina State University, she was an active member in every band and choral ensemble offered. Being a part of these ensembles and holding leadership positions within them aided in building Ms. Williams into an even more versatile player than she was before. She even created the first trombone ensemble offered at the school.

  • Specialties and Teaching Philosophies

When she is not playing, writing, performing, or listening to music, she likes to read and teach. She believes in creativity and “hands-on” learning using multiple methods of understanding in working with her students catering to their needs for positive matriculation on their individual instruments. Ms. Williams is so excited to work with Ken Stanton Music and is ready to bring Music Education to you and your child! See you in the classroom! “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.”- Plato
